Expanding JPL’s Flavour Laboratory & Manufacturing Capacity
Klick transformed JPL’s warehouse into a future-ready technical hub, creating 14 new laboratories, manufacturing and storage areas, offices and a new mezzanine, supported by upgraded M&E and HVAC infrastructure.
JPL Flavours – Laboratory & Technical Centre Fit Out
JPL has seen significant expansion since it was founded in 2014. Its existing facility was spread across three buildings, limiting space, workflow and future growth. The new facility brought staff together under one roof while significantly increasing JPL’s R&D capability.
Phase 1 – Flavour Development Laboratories
Klick converted existing office space into two showcase flavour development laboratories, working closely with lab users and stakeholders to improve workflow and productivity.
The design incorporated flexible laboratory furniture, including mobile storage cabinets and a multifunctional mobile tasting unit. Bespoke reagent shelving provided easy access to frequently used ingredients, while separate roller-racking bays and glass partitioning created segregated ingredient storage.
Services were upgraded to meet laboratory requirements, including HVAC and extraction for a new fume cupboard. Local extraction arms were installed at individual work areas, while ceiling-mounted monitor arms maximised available bench space.
Phase 2 – Expanding Laboratory Capacity
Phase 2 transformed a large warehouse into a high-specification technical hub, incorporating manufacturing areas, offices, storage and 14 additional laboratories.
Klick designed and constructed a new mezzanine providing additional laboratories for sweet, savoury and beverage flavour development, alongside enhanced quality control and analytical facilities.
M&E and HVAC infrastructure was upgraded throughout, while Klick also installed laboratory furniture, hygienic wall cladding, flooring and partitioning, and coordinated the installation of major manufacturing equipment.
The result is a future-ready 75,000 sq ft headquarters providing JPL with a flexible, scalable environment designed to support continued growth, collaboration and innovation.
