Meet the 2024 keynote speakers
Tom Whipple
Tom Whipple is the science editor at The Times. He joined the paper after graduating with a degree in mathematics. In his job, he has interviewed Stephen Hawking, Jimmy Carter, Bill Gates and Jedward. He was named science journalist of the year for his coverage of the covid pandemic.
Adam Rutherford
Adam Rutherford is a geneticist at University College London (UCL), who teaches evolution; eugenics and the history of race, having completed his PhD at UCL’s Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. One of BBC Radio 4’s most pre-eminent broadcasters, Adam is also a prolific writer having published eight books.

Biotech forum
The Biotech Exchange is brand new for 2024. This theatre is designed to be a central meeting point for those in the rapidly-growing sector, and to discuss key trends and challenges, such as biobanking, personalised medicine, clinical and medical laboratory skills, the future of genomics, AI’s place in biotech and sustainability in drug development and medicines. Some of the largest biotech organisations in the world are set to speak here, so you won’t want to miss out.

Royal Society of Chemistry Theatre
Hosted in partnership with The Royal Society of Chemistry, this theatre will bring you a packed agenda over 2 days, filled with conference sessions around sustainability. From reducing microplastics to how we can save the Amazon jungle, the RSC Theatre always delivers insightful content from global experts. Keynotes this year have been announced: Adam Rutherford, Scientist, Writer and Broadcaster, and Tom Whipple, Science Editor of The Times.

The Insights & Innovations theatre, hosted in partnership with Laboratory News and GAMBICA, brings you the latest and greatest across 2 streams in 2024. One content stream focuses on the current sustainability trends and challenges, and the other stream focuses on data, automation and AI. Conference sessions in this theatre will give practical tips to those looking to improve their practices and processes.

Live Lab is powered by Lab Innovations’ very own suppliers and manufacturers. Here you will see an array of newly-launched equipment, ranging across all sectors. The Quality Infrastructure Forum is brand new for 2024. Powered by UKAS, BSI, NPL and ASTM, you can rest assured knowing that you will be getting information on how to run the highest quality lab from the very people that write the standards and accreditation frameworks themselves. Conference sessions in this theatre will give a mix of practical insights on quality and testing tasks, such as calibration, in addition to wider information on accreditation.
