About us

Kelsius provides wireless temperature monitoring & digital task management that helps labs to automated their processes.

Temperature and Environmental Monitoring for Laboratories and Life Sciences

Kelsius designs and manufactures wireless temperature monitoring equipment and provides digital monitoring, reporting and associated technical services for laboratories, healthcare facilities and pharmaceutical organisations. Its systems record environmental conditions, notify designated personnel of excursions and maintain electronic records for quality assurance, audits and inspections. The company supplies its products and services to more than 50 countries.
Kelsius operates quality and environmental management systems certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. The certification scope includes the design and manufacture of wireless temperature monitoring equipment, installation, customer product training, and the provision of temperature monitoring and data services.

Laboratory and Research Monitoring

CoolCheck is Kelsius’ wireless temperature and humidity monitoring system for laboratories, hospital pharmacies and life science facilities. It provides automated monitoring of refrigerators, freezers, incubators and ambient storage areas, with applications encompassing refrigerated storage, ultra-low temperature freezers and liquid nitrogen storage.
Wireless sensors record conditions around the clock, with laboratory readings logged at five-minute intervals and stored in the Kelsius cloud-based Web Portal. Authorised users can view current and historical readings remotely, enabling oversight of individual units, departments or multiple locations.
Configurable thresholds and distribution lists direct excursion notifications to designated personnel through automated smartphone push notifications, email or voice calls. This supports responses outside normal laboratory operating hours. Centralised records include sensor readings, alerts and corrective actions, while downloadable reports and audit trails support inspections and internal quality reviews. Automated recording reduces routine manual data entry and provides documented environmental histories for temperature-sensitive samples, reagents and other laboratory materials.

Monitoring During Transportation

CoolTrak365 extends monitoring to medicines and medical products in transit. It combines temperature monitoring with GPS location tracking, real-time excursion alerts and automatic data upload. Facility and transportation monitoring can be viewed through a single portal, providing visibility across storage and distribution.
The system records temperature and location histories, supports tracking of time out of refrigeration and provides information on temperature trends and transport delays. Shipment data can also be used for route risk profiling. These functions support traceability and GxP-related processes, including those undertaken in accordance with MHRA guidance.

Temperature Mapping and Calibration

Kelsius provides temperature mapping services to assess whether storage equipment and facilities operate within specified temperature limits. Mapping identifies hot and cold spots and can highlight issues associated with insulation, HVAC systems or the layout of a storage area. The service can be undertaken before an area enters use and repeated following modifications or according to risk assessments.
Mapping documentation includes measurement locations, graphs, minimum, maximum and average temperatures, statistical analysis, equipment specifications, calibration certificates and recommendations. Unedited measurement data is available in CSV format. This provides laboratory and quality personnel with evidence for evaluating storage conditions and monitoring arrangements.
Calibration services are available according to customers’ monitoring requirements and regulatory obligations. Options include single-point and multi-point calibration performed by UKAS-accredited laboratories, with sensor swap-out or on-site arrangements available. Calibration certificates and records are supplied for audits and inspections. Annual calibration is included where specified in the customer’s contract.
Kelsius holds Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 for temperature calibration within the accredited scope of −35°C to +50°C. The accreditation covers the technical competence and controlled procedures used to perform calibration work within that scope.

What Kelsius’ Customers Say

• Stewart Nimmo, Catering Manager, Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust:
“Moving to digital has been a really positive step. We’ve gone from incomplete paperwork and constant checking to having full visibility and accurate records in real time. It saves us time, reduces waste, and makes audits much easier. The system is simple to use, and once the team adapted, it became second nature. It’s improved how we work day-to-day and ultimately helps us deliver a better service to our patients.”

• Andy Moran, Chief Biomedical Scientist, Central Manchester University Hospitals:

“The Kelsius system replaced a manual system of temperature recording which was time consuming and inadequate for our requirements. GMIS was the first pathology laboratory in the UK to achieve accreditation to ISO standard 15189 of UKAS. Use of the Kelsius temperature monitoring system strengthened our position and ability to successfully achieve this quality standard.
Kelsius provides a means of monitoring a bank of fridges, freezers and incubators continually in real time. In the event of a temperature deviation, laboratory personnel are notified immediately and can rectify any issues. The system has proved very reliable and robust and has not broken down once.”

• Dr Alison Webber, Head of Microbiology, Torbay Pharmaceuticals:

“Kelsius gives us peace of mind that our fridges and incubators are being monitored in real time, and we know when they deviate from the allowed parameters. Kelsius is installed throughout our pharmaceutical facility to cover all units including ambient monitoring of our warehouse. Live and historical data allows us to cover any inspections and audits carried out. The follow-up service is excellent, and an annual service is included. The system is highly recommended by our team.”
