About us
Smart solutions for laboratory and medical devices - the LifeTech division at Festo provides forward-looking answers with innovative solutions for medical technology and laboratory automation. We support manufacturers of laboratory and medical devices with solutions that deliver precise and reproducible results.
Reliability, precision and compact dimensions are key when handling liquids in laboratories. Festo offers all of this. Our dispense head consists of a manifold duct plate, dosing valves and nozzles and can be perfectly adapted to your specific requirements. Combining this with our handling system creates a ready-to-install complete solution which simplifies engineering and increases productivity.
Laboratory automation - Modular solutions for every task
From identifying and checking the sample carriers to opening and closing sample vials and dispensing liquids in microwell plates, with Festo you can implement customised applications for sample preparation in the smallest of spaces.
Proportional valves for medical devices - Precisely regulating gases with piezo technology
Modern valve technology, such as for ventilator breathing devices, helps to save the lives of many patients. We are well aware of our responsibility and with our portfolio of valves for efficient regulation and control of medical gases and fluids, we offer you exactly the precision and reliability that are needed here – including maximum cost-effectiveness. In addition to solenoid valves, we often use proportional valves with piezo technology for these applications.
In vitro diagnostics - Automation of point-of-care applications
There is growing demand for mobile analytical devices for rapid and reliable tests that enable patient samples to be analysed directly at the medical practice; this in turn increases the demand for new lab-on-a-chip solutions. We help you to transfer your new process sequences (assays) into market-ready lab-on-a-chip systems as quickly, easily and cost-effectively as possible, using collaborative engineering and a modular system with catalogue components that comply with the industry standard.

Media-separated solenoid valves VYKA, VYKB, VYKC and VZDB from Festo
Dispensing, aspirating or continuous flow? With media-separated valves from Festo, you can choose between three operating modes! These compact, powerful valves dispense and aspirate any quantity, right from the very smallest, with great precision. Their uniquely impressive pressure and nominal width specifications also make them perfect for flow control, for example in manifold duct plates. • FDA-listed materials • Developed in line with ISO 13485 • Reliable media separation for aggressive gases and liquids • Optimised rinsability • Minimised heat generation • Flexible in use thanks to 3/2 and 2/2 (NC/NO) • Various nominal widths (1.2 mm, 1.6 mm and 2.0 mm) for dosing, aspirating and for continuous flow

Combined pressure and vacuum generator PGVA
The decentralised pressure and vacuum generator PGVA only requires a 24 V power supply to provide compressed air for your pressure or vacuum-assisted solution. Integrated compressor Flexible use Easy to integrate Easy to operate and configure

Modular handling systems for laboratory automation
From individual linear axis, rotary and grippers to complete X-Y-Z modules the Festo has a range of handling systems to allow you to focus on the science of your application. Festo can provide a complete support package including feasibility studies, application development, design and build.

Pipetting system with pipette head DHOE
The open pipetting system for the easy transport of liquids enables you to configure the most important pipetting functions in line with your needs and to expand them flexibly. • Media-resistant pipette head • With pipette tips • Easy integration • Complete solution from a single source • Used the dispense cycle is complete the used tip can be ejected using the optional DHAO

Dimensional gantries EXCL
The three-dimensional gantry can be easily integrated into desktop systems. It is ideal for automating analytical processes where the opening of sample vials and the pipetting of liquid samples or the dispensing of reagents is to take place in the same workspace. • Multi-axis gantry with small footprint • With one or 2 Z-axes (or as a planar surface gantry X/Y without Z-axes) • X, Y workspace configurable in 1 mm increments up to 1000 mm x 700 mm • Z-axis stroke can be selected between 50, 100, 150 and 200 mm • Optional 6-axis motion controller, programmable via G-code • Stepper motors, reference switches and cables always included

Rotary gripper module EHMD
The rotary gripper module EHMD is ideal for gripping and rotating/aligning small objects in laboratory automation or the electronics industry. For example, it can be used to effortlessly open various kinds of sample vials. • Ideal for small objects in laboratory automation • Infinite electrical rotation and electrical or pneumatic gripping • Gripping and turning to open and close covers on vials • Optional: mounting with Z-compensation compensates for the thread pitch of covers on vials during opening and closing

Proportional flow control valve VEMD
The dynamic mass flow rate regulator VEMD operates extremely quietly thanks to proportional valves. The integrated electronics with sensor detect, regulate and proportionally dose the flow rate of air, oxygen, nitrogen, argon and CO2. • Mass flow controller (MFC) with thermal flow rate sensor and integrated control electronics • Dynamic regulation with short response time • Operating medium: air, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, CO2 • The current flow rate value is available via the interface • Ideal for many applications where inert gases or oxygen need to be controlled • Sustainable operation thanks to efficient control

Fitting NLFA
For liquid media: the fittings NLFA are available in five variants for different types of tubing. They are ideal for use in laboratory applications in combination with the dosing needles VAVN. • For mounting in laboratory devices • Very easy to flush thanks to connection without dead space • For liquid and gaseous media • Also for aggressive liquid media • Materials in contact with the media: PP • For securing tubing and dosing needles • Straight design
