High-risk patients in England will be offered a free vaccine from August 2025 in the NHS’s world-first programme to combat soaring gonorrhoea rates.
The NHS and local authorities have begun rolling out the first gonorrhoea vaccination programme in England, targeting those at highest risk of infection.

Gonorrhoea diagnoses reached a record 85,000 in 2023 — triple the 2012 figure — highlighting the urgent need for preventative measures.
