BINDER has the largest photovoltaic system in the Tuttlingen district. This system, which is installed on the 10,300 m2 roof of the COMPETENCE FACTORY, generates up to 620 kWp of solar energy and most of the energy required for the production halls. We thus save a whopping 270 tons of CO2 annually. In addition, the halls are equipped with energy-saving LED lights, electricity is generated from our own machines and there is plenty of daylight.
For BINDER, the investment of half a million euros has certainly been worth it. After all, sunshine is freely available and does not leave behind an unwelcome carbon footprint. BINDER is looking to the future and is focusing on environmentally friendly, innovative technologies in more areas than simply its own products.
We attach great importance to environmental protection and energy efficiency, which is reflected in our certification to ISO standards 14001 and 50001 for the environment and energy. These internationally recognized standards play a key role in our commitment to environmental protection, sustainability and the use of renewable energy.
ISO 14001 sets out our commitment to identifying, assessing and minimizing environmental impacts. It forms the basis for our strict policies with regard to the responsible use of resources and the reduction of our environmental impact.
ISO 50001 focuses on our energy management. This means that our energy efficiency is constantly being improved and our energy consumption is constantly being reduced.
These standards are of great importance to us, as they enable us to systematically develop solutions to reduce our environmental impact and energy consumption. We document our progress in these areas annually, which leads to continuous improvement. In this way, we help to conserve resources, reduce waste and minimize our environmental footprint.
Today, we are also already 80% CO2 neutral (Scope 1 and 2). The goal is to reach 100% by 2030.
